Part of the Supply Chains family, Procurement is responsible for over 30B of material and services spend globally with more than 70,000 suppliers. Getting the right materials, sustainably sourced and ensuring responsible procurement is critical to ensuring our brands with purpose grow. Our teams work closely with the business to understand brand needs, bring supplier innovation to meet changing consumer needs and drive financial value for Unilever through competitive buying. Schaffhausen and Singapore are the two key Procurements global hubs which lead strategy and are home to the global portfolio teams such as Packaging, Chemicals, Naturals, MBS, and Sustainable Sourcing.


The Procurement Strategy & Insights Team serves as the nerve centre of the Unilever global procurement organization, which enables the procurement organization to design and deliver step-change across the procurement value chain, operating process, and business model. This team is responsible for:

  • Sensing and incubating innovative ideas, new business models & transformation programs for value creation as UPLT partners
  • Enabling transformation programs, facilitating upskilling of employees, and developing strategy with respective portfolio VPs and PCLF members
  • Identifying and scaling up best practices across the global procurement organization
  • Working with procurement portfolio and BG (Business group) Procurement leads to harmonize portfolio strategies into one BG strategy



  • Map existing and new subscriptions with use cases and commodity spend by portfolio as part of the overall consolidation of market intelligence and data resources
  • Compute and regularly maintain Return-on-Investment metrics for spend on subscriptions and market intelligence
  • Drive and lead automation of subscriptions data and reports with external vendors to a Unilever data lake together with S&I Digital team
  • Lead negotiations with external vendors while interfacing with Procurement buyers, legal, MBS, and S&I teams for an optimized solution
  • Support Procurement S&I to increase subscriptions capabilities across incumbent and new suppliers via Request For Information (RFI) initiatives on an ad-hoc basis
  • Oversee the coordination and finalization (including signatures from both parties) of subscription agreements from suppliers to be reviewed by Procurement S&I or Marketing Business Services.
  • Regular engagements with Procurement S&I Subscriptions Squad members to provide updates on subscriptions annual renewals, Purchase Order creations and budget tracking

Market Intelligence

  • Be a key team player to interact with consultancy partners on day-to-day basis for ongoing studies, forming commercial agreements, Non Disclosure Agreements and structure for fast executions
  • Lead Insights hub implementation and rollout in coordination with S&I Digital team and broader Procurement community via User Accepting Testings
  • Support in delivering the programs of MICB 2022 (Market Intel and Comp Benchmarking) such as partner agency management, development of playbooks and trainings for the proc community
  • Ensure the budget of the programs and deliverables for MICB team are met on time in full.


  • To be a healthy forward-looking challenger, as well as a partner to the sourcing team, provoking and bringing new thinking. With the following key activities:
  • Facilitate creation and updating of portfolio strategies, and deliver analytics and guidance for negotiations and contracting applying expertise and the newly created playbooks, incorporating best-in-class solutions
  • Lead the Insights creation from available data, based on a good understanding of the data architecture and guiding the mining process
  • Help define and Rollout strategic transformation programs, such as Zero Based Budgeting
  • Derive value creation opportunities based on deep Value Chain expertise, Supplier, Competitor and Industry Insights, as well as benchmarking and cost modelling
  • Conduct supply and demand analysis, in collaboration with the portfolio sourcing teams



  • Minimum 4 years relevant Finance, Supplier Operations, or Procurement experience
  • Experience working with Procurement Services (indirects) with background on Market Intelligence and specific Subscriptions Services expertise a plus
  • Sourcing role either in Unilever / FMCG industry or in a large complex organisation with strong portfolio and market expertise is a plus
  • Awareness of commercial & legal services agreements
  • Experience interacting with a range of internal & external stakeholders from junior (WL1) to senior levels (WL3+)
  • Experience in managing complex & dynamic workload
  • Experience of working in cross-functional teams within a matrix environment both F2F and virtually
