The Organization Aflatoun International is a non-governmental organization focusing on educating children about their rights and responsibilities and managing natural and financial resources through social and financial education. Children and young people are empowered to make a positive change in their lives and in their communities, with the aim of ultimately leading them to break the cycle of poverty in which many find themselves. Headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, The Aflatoun program is currently implemented in 109 countries and reaches over 10 million children. Through Aflatoun programs children are inspired to discover their talents and put them to use, to stand up for their rights and those of their communities, to play games, and to solve problems. They learn how to save, how to budget, and how to set up social and financial enterprises that benefit themselves, their families, and their neighborhoods. Aflatoun employs the social franchise model whereby partners have ownership of the program. The secretariat develops curricula in collaboration with its partners and provides them with technical assistance, network support, advocacy, and training materials to implement the Aflatoun methodology. Aflatoun Internationals portfolio of donor-funded educational projects across the world is expanding and we are looking for a dynamic professional to take on the role of Finance Officer

Finance Officer (32-40 hours per week)

As Finance Officer you will be part of the Finance and Operations team working closely with the Director of F&O You will report directly to the Director of Finance and Operations, and work closely with the project managers to support the delivery of a range of international development projects.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with an analytical mind, and a strong work ethic, comfortable working with new technology, and passionate about applying a commercial skillset to help improve outcomes for children and young people.

In your role as Finance Officer, you will:

Develop project budgets and donor financial reports in coordination with project managers.

Support project managers to develop project plans and risk assessments, and assist them to effectively and efficiently run the projects and meet reporting requirements.

Assess project implementation status, risk, and financial results and provide summary reporting to the management team and board.

Maintain cash-flow forecast across projects.

On time, accurate and appropriate input of payments for approval.

Booking all entries in Aflatouns (ExactOnline) accounting system in accordance with Aflatouns policies.

Identify financial issues, risks, non-compliance and escalate as required.

Prepare documents, reports, collect invoices and other documentation for audit and other assistance for external controller as required.

Monthly report on debtors position.

Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Coordinate salary administration with the external salary administrator to ensure on time, accurate payments.

Creating / changing / removing GL codes in Exact Online.

About You.

Qualifications

HBO degree in accounting/financial management.

Three to five years experience in working with a similar organisation in an international context.

Experienced in the business software EXACT Online. (required)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong organiser of ones own work (knowing how to prioritise).

Strong communication skills.

Be culturally sensitive, result-oriented, innovative and a strong team player.

Fluency in both Dutch and English. French is an added value.

Proficiency in financial software.

Knowledge of IT; information systems, computer network, hardware and software and electronic support is an advantage

What we offer

Salary 2634- 3539 (inclusive of pension, health insurance, holiday allowance and national insurance contributions) - the salary level awarded will depend on relevant work experience and educational background.
