What will you do?
This exciting opportunity is available within People and Transformation, Human Resources based at our Head Office in Cape Town, Tygervalley or Johannesburg, Sandton offices.
The role is responsible for the development of talent acquisition initiatives as part of the centre of excellences strategic operating plan, as well as the management of Talent Acquisition specific process and practices to ensure best practices in the acquisition discipline.
What will make you successful in this role?
Develop sourcing strategies in alignment with the business strategic priorities to ensure Santam remains competitive with market best practices
- Specific and specialized sourcing initiatives, recruiting marketing channel development specific to e-commerce, strategic job board management, digital and non-digital employment marketing, comprehensive recruitment campaign planning, talent planning, talent mapping, etc.
- Remain abreast of and analyse industry trends on information technology talent attraction strategies and advise business regarding the impact on the organizations ability to attract talent in this field
- Consult on the design and delivery of employer branding initiatives to create awareness on opportunities in the business and position Santam as an employer of choice
- Consult on the development and implementation of digital social media sourcing campaigns
- Contribute to the definition and design of innovative sourcing strategies that will enable the establishment of a diverse pool of talent to meet the evolving needs to the business workforce plan
- On a regular basis, proactively explore all channels and processes to build diverse pools of talent
- Implement creative direct to market talent capturing solutions for the business; i.e. create and maintain a potential candidate database, advertising on web-based job search sites
- Conducting research on competitors, building industry networks, attending industry specific events, job fairs, partnering with labour agencies and tapping into global networks
- Provide support to the Head of Talent Acquisition and Talent Lead in the sourcing and acquisition of scarce and critical skills at manager and above levels.
- Draft direct to market advertisements taking into consideration the recruitment criteria and the current business needs with regards to talent
- Control and manage candidates responses received from the direct to market campaigns by creating a centralised database of applicants and tracking progress within the recruitment process
Agency and Third-Party Management:
- Act as liaison and manage all communications between Santam and the applicable recruitment agencies and other third parties such as direct to market publications
- Send out communication or requests to recruitment agencies in accordance with current resourcing needs and brief agencies regarding business and vacancy requirements
- Liaise with recruitment agencies regarding candidate engagement with the organisation throughout the recruitment process
Manage and drive Talent Acquisition Pipelines for Specialist/Critical/Scare Skill Roles
- Engage with Business, HRBPs and Leads to understand critical, scarce and future hiring needs
- Develop sourcing campaigns to attract talent for critical and scarce skills e.g. Print, Job Portals, LinkedIn, Social Media, Seminars, Networking, etc.
- Identify and source appropriate talent for current open roles within the organization
- Identify future talent needs and proactively recruiting and sourcing; develop talent pool, pipeline or social engagements. (Recruitment in advance of need)

Talent and Recruitment Optimization of People and Process
Talent Acquisition and Recruitment systems, processes and practices to ensure sustainable and value-added solution to delivery
- Constantly benchmark, review and improve resourcing approach and processes
Talent Reporting and Analytics
Provide recruitment counsel and guidance to hiring managers and HR professionals with hiring and employment data. Develop specialised or competitive intelligence and research in regards to talent acquisition in the industry
- Prepare relevant talent analytics which informs talent initiatives and assists with decision making
- Track ROI on Talent Acquisition, attraction and recruitment initiatives
- Determine with the Talent Acquisition Lead what metrics are relevant and ensure that data is collected and captured to measure performance against metrics
- Calculate and submit various recruitment costs to offset against budget
- Manage and update Talent Acquisition Scorecard and vacancy tracker for the business to enable monitoring of performance against sourcing plan for the Head of Talent Acquisition
Develop relationships and manage Service Level Agreements with stakeholders
- Build and maintain relationship and service levels with internal and external partners
Onboarding of all new employees
- Manage and ensure the co-ordination of the Santam new employee orientation
- Manage and ensure the co-ordination of Employee Benefits sessions
- Enhance, development and support the delivery of the Corporate Induction Programme and Onboarding Framework
- Manage On-Boarding Framework Implementation plan
- Develop, manage and implement the Santam on-boarding framework in alignment with best practice
Ad-hoc Projects - Development, support and Implementation of Talent Acquisition initiatives as per business need
Knowledge Sharing
- Regularly report on industry developments to ensure knowledge sharing within the Talent Acquisition and broader resourcing team.
- Continuously ensuring that relevant stakeholders are kept updated with current market trends and changes by attending workshops, doing research and networking.
Qualification and Experience
- B-Degree in HR or related field of study or an equivalent NQF level 7 qualification
- Experience in direct sourcing for roles in a large corporate, combined with previous agency experience
- Understanding of pipelining and implementation of talent mapping for specialist roles in insurance or financial services
Knowledge
- Knowledge of the talent management value chain with in-depth demonstrated knowledge of the talent acquisition lever
- Knowledge of recruitment and selection techniques and requirements, the companys selection guidelines, and South African laws regarding employment practices
- Display knowledge of principles and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labour relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
- Exhibit knowledge of hiring practices, behavioural-based interview techniques, tracking processes for applicants and open positions, and recruiting metrics
- Exhibit knowledge of the organisations recruiting policy, procedures, and databases
- Awareness of FAIS accreditation requirements and governance process is advantageous
- Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
- Experience with online tools and platforms.
