Field of activity

Our project "Improving the grid and system integration of variable renewable energies in South Africa" supports national and municipal actors in the South African electricity sector in the implementation of the energy transition on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The central elements of the project are the development and implementation of further training courses, support for a comprehensive reform of the electricity sector, the promotion of technological innovations and the implementation of high-level dialogue events in order to strengthen the problem awareness and problem-solving skills of relevant specialists and managers. A new phase of the project is to be planned for 2023, probably with a primary focus on further training courses on electricity market reform and the promotion of renewable energies.

Your tasks

  • You are responsible for the strategic, technical and administrative implementation of the project.
  • You ensure the proper use of funds and cash management of the project.
  • You lead the employees of the project according to the company's understanding of leadership and ensure an appreciative leadership culture.
  • You communicate understandably, comprehensibly and excitingly in public and to the client.
  • You will further develop the subject areas of further education on renewable energies and technology innovation, Just Energy Transition and electricity market design.
  • You are responsible for the planning and conception of the new phase of the project.

your profile

  • Completed university degree in energy, economics or engineering or comparable courses
  • Several years of relevant work experience and sound specialist knowledge in the fields of energy management and energy policy
  • Proven qualifications and several years of work experience in the areas of further training on renewable energies and technological innovation
  • Several years of work experience in developing and emerging countries; Work experience in South Africa and knowledge of the South African energy sector would be an advantage
  • Several years of experience in leading multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
  • Several years of experience in the management of international cooperation projects
  • Commitment, team spirit, reliability, diplomatic skills, gender competence and intercultural understanding
  • Ability to think and act strategically and analytically, quick comprehension and an eye for the essentials
  • Business fluent English and German language skills
