Senior / Staff Backend Engineer (m/f/d) Full-time Job

Were looking for a skilled Senior / Staff Backend Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team of creators constantly raising the bar on user and customer experiences. Working behind the scenes, the ideal candidate has a unique blend of technical expertise and insatiable curiosity. Do you have a desire to develop, document, and learn about highly distributed, event-sourced systems, code infrastructure the same way as applications, and be able to spawn the entire system on your laptop? If so, we should meet!YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR- Developing awesome backend applications in mainly Java 15 as well as other potential languages (like JavaScript and Go) for the infrastructure and network components- Taking part in all steps of building distributed systems - planning, developing, deploying and maintaining event-sourced, microservices oriented systems- Improving and further developing the current deployment pipeline (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and infrastructure (AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform)- Maintaining, monitoring, and improving existing services, libraries, and infrastructure- Writing code and tests, build prototypes, solve issues, profile and analyse bottlenecks- Focusing on quality of code through proper testing and developer experience for other team members

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Backend, preferably in a technology company and/or in the healthcare industry, and be a creative thinker who thrives on owning the process from start to finish. Additionally, the candidate will have:- Experience implementing or designing highload, event-sourced or event streaming system preferably within a healthtech, insurtech or fintech company- Strong experience developing modern Java applications and deploying them in public clouds with full awareness of the infrastructure behind- Strong experience with system monitoring- Strong experience with Cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google cloud, etc)- Exposure to Devops environments- Deep knowledge of one of the following topics: Kafka, Reactive programming, Kubernetes- Fluency in testing strategies involving container environment- Desire to document new ideas and complex flows with great detail level- Growth mindset, challenging status quo to find new solutions and out-of-the-box ideas

- Fluency in English

- Valid working visa/permit for Germany
