This Risk Lead will be responsible for the development, maintenance and monitoring of all Risk Management activities and associated documents on the project. They will ensure application of the Risk Management process on their assigned project throughout the full lifecycle and provide Risk Management guidance and support to project team members as required.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities
Expectations
- To be responsible for the development, maintenance and monitoring of all Risk Management activities and associated documents on the project.
- Ensure application of Risk Management process to assigned project throughout the full lifecycle.
- Provide Risk Management guidance and support of project team members as required.
Key aims and objectives
- Actively establish and maintain Risk Management activities on project, seeking any potential opportunities for improvement.
- Delivery of a range of Risk Management services to project team, facilitating the identification and analysis of project risks at all stages as required, interpreting risk outputs, and communicating to relevant stakeholders as appropriate.
- Maintain, monitor all project risk related processes and activities, report and rectify any variances or issues related to compliance.
- Support project team with any contract specific reporting or tasks, including the ongoing development of wider Risk Management systems and procedures.
Prime responsibilities and duties
- To promote and build good working relations within internal and external teams.
- Maintain a high-level awareness and application of Risk Management activities within project.
- To be fully conversant with the application and use of Worley Risk Management suite of tools and chosen software applications.
- To prepare, update and maintain project Risk Management activities, throughout the project lifecycle and across the 6-step process:
- To ensure the timely issue of accurate, updated Risk Management Plans and associated documents at the agreed intervals.
- To provide guidance to Project personnel in defining Risk Management objectives based on project objectives and support application of the risk process.
- To utilise numerous risk identification techniques to facilitate risk identification sessions.
- To develop and implement risk assessment criteria as part of a project risk register.
- To assist Risk Owners with the selection of appropriate risk response strategies and development of action plans to address identified risks
- To assist project or functional personnel in the familiarisation and consistent application of Risk Management software tools and associated process.
- To facilitate Risk workshops and develop project Risk Registers which act as repositories for all risk related information.
- To conduct with Cost / Schedule Risk Analysis Workshop sessions, facilitating workshops and developing associated outputs.
- To support and encourage project team members / customers in the use of Decision Analysis where applicable.
- To ensure the timely issue of accurate, updated reports and associated documents at the agreed intervals.
- To regularly engage with project teams, attending and contributing to project meetings as deemed appropriate.
Allied occasional duties
- Assist with Corporate Risk Management / Graduate / Learning events (as requested).
- To present to internal audiences on a range or Risk Management related topics

- Project Delivery Functions: Project Management, Project Controls, Discipline Engineers, Construction, Supply Chain
- Commercial Functions: Project Commercial, Pre-contracts
Key external interfaces
- Client Project Representatives.
- 3rd Party Representatives: Subcontractors, Suppliers
Qualifications and Key Person Specifications
Position Specific Qualifications:
Essential:
- HNC / HND (in relevant discipline).
- IRM International Certificate in Risk Management (or an alternative risk qualification).
Desirable:
- BA or BSc degree (min. 2:1) in Risk Management, alternative subjects considered can include: Project Management, Engineering, other analytical disciplines.
Position Specific Experience:
Essential:
Previous Risk experience (ideally circa 5 years) across relevant Risk Management activities
Specialist knowledge in Risk Management software, i.e., Primavera Risk Analysis, @Risk / other MCS software and experienced with quantitative risk analysis (i.e., cost / schedule risk analysis).
Demonstrable involvement within oil gas & industry and / or cross-over experience from a comparable technical industry.
Desirable:
- Extensive working knowledge of the upstream offshore oil and gas industry and / or downstream petrochemical industry.
- Knowledge of various project risk management software applications
- Ability to support departmental audit on both the Risk systems and Risk processes.
- Experience in internal project delivery processes and procedures (e.g., interaction with DCC.)

- Ability to work as member of a team at a senior level.
- Good communicator.
- Demonstrable high quality presentation skills.
- Confident and sufficiently assertive to lead group workshops.
- General risk awareness with a demonstrable interest in wider Risk Management topics / issues.

- Capable of communicating with project teams, third parties & clients to meet internal and client requirements across multiple projects with several different clients concurrently.
- Ability to introduce improvements, plus procedure developments to dedicated Risk Management systems and processes.
- Capable of identifying and providing qualitative inputs to Risk Management related process initiatives.
- Ability to build constructive relationships, allowing the discussion and resolution of any risk related issues.
- Competent in qualitative measuring risks, facilitating analysis, plus evaluation of specific threats and opportunities.
- Competent in modelling quantitative (cost & schedule) risks and evaluation of analysis output.
- Able to provide constructive challenge to project teams to ensure all risks are addressed appropriately.
Project Essential:
- Proven experience in one or more of commercial management, prime contract management, project controls, contracts/supply chain or project management
- Staff management experience (knowledge transfer)
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to use MS Office (word, excel, Outlook, Power point) competently
- Understanding of Time / Distance planning programs
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel as and when required
- High level of safety awareness
