Farm Manager / Agronomist

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Farm Manager / Agronomist with expertise in sugar cane farming and irrigation. If you have a passion for agriculture, extensive knowledge in sugar cane cultivation, and a track record of successful farm management.


Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field.
Vast experience (minimum 7 years) in managing and overseeing sugar cane farms, specifically in the field of sugar cane farming and irrigation.
In-depth knowledge of sugar cane cultivation practices, irrigation techniques, and soil management in the context of sugar cane farming.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of the sugar cane farm, including land preparation, planting, fertilization, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting.
Develop and implement crop management plans, considering factors such as soil conditions, climate, and sustainability practices.
Optimize irrigation practices to ensure efficient water usage and maximize crop yield.
Monitor crop health, identify diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies, and develop appropriate treatment strategies.
Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Coordinate with suppliers to procure necessary inputs, such as seeds, fertilizers, and chemicals, while ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Oversee and manage farm labor, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
Keep accurate records of farm activities, including crop yields, expenses, and maintenance.

Collaborate with research institutions and stay updated on industry advancements to implement innovative farming techniques.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and industry best practices.
Develop and manage the farm budget, monitoring expenses, and identifying areas for cost-saving and efficiency improvement.
Required Skills:
Extensive experience in sugar cane farming and irrigation, with a deep understanding of the entire cultivation process.
Strong knowledge of irrigation techniques, including drip irrigation and precision
farming methods specific to sugar cane.
Proficiency in crop management, soil health, pest control, and disease management in sugarcane farming.
Familiarity with sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship in the
agricultural industry.
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a skilled workforce.
Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to address challenges in farming operations.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
